Bright College Ears

By Alexander Tang

On Broadway--25th Anniversary Edition

Apologies to Jack Thomas, who long ago asked if the Whiffs of '80 might share some news about our newly reissued CD and reunion appearances. With the digital age, and an aging batch of live concert tapes from our European Tour, we decided our 25th reunion would be a great opportunity to share our recording again with classmates and family in a more updated format. The reissue includes a 10-page full-color insert and a wealth of then-and-now photos, plus the previously unreleased concert material mentioned earlier. Copies were delivered to us only this past Monday, and are available now through www.a-cappella.com, 1-800-827-2936. (For once, I can honestly say, "Operators are standing by!") If you'd like to experience us again "live," we'll be singing in the Woolsey Rotunda on Fri. around 5:30 and at Mory's around 6:15, and again, more formally, on Sat., at the Celebration of Yale Singing, which begins 4:30 in Woolsey Hall, and a brief set at our class dinner, sometime after 8:30. We look forward to seeing our classmates and helping to rekindle some fond memories, or maybe even creating some new ones, for all. (And, Bryant, Calvin or Johnson, if you're out there, let us know how we can reach you! :) --Alex Tang

I should also have noted that we join our fellow Whiff Bill Pelto in mourning the death of his Berkeley roommate Matt Winer, and extend our deepest condolences to Matt's family, friends, and colleagues. Also wishing June W. a safe arrival in New Haven; it's been great to read about your journey.

No apologies needed! I bought the remastered CD, and listened to it as I was leaving New Haven on Sunday. It's sensational!

The Whiffs' sterling performance on Saturday evening at the Class Dinner brought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye. Listening to the CD produced the same effect -- terrible for my already-questionable driving ability, but a great way to reminisce about the Class "time after time."

Kudos to all of our outstanding Whiffs for the magic of their singing. Once again, it cast its spell.

A shameless plug from a fan! You can order the Whiffs' CD through A-Cappella.com, which is run by our very own Don Gooding.

www.a-cappella.com is the website.

The Whiffs album is available at:
