MN 2 Yale Bike Odyssey - "Epiblog"

By June (Mendoza) Wheeler

June re-reunes with Margaret and Charles (Milwaukee hosts)

Well, it WAS a great reunion and now I'm back to "real" life in St. Paul.

In brief, the bike trip was far more rewarding and meaningful than I had ever anticipated. Seeing old friends at reunion was the icing on the cake. Thank you again to all who expressed their support and admiration. It was so appreciated by both Peter and I, although we remain singularly unimpressed with ourselves! We loved the daily routine and the terrific people we met on the route.

A glowing side note - our biking angel Monica (see blog-she rescued us by bringing Peter to the ER due to his bladder infection, and brought us to our next stop in Canada when we could not bike) called us this afternoon simply to check in and see how we fared on the rest of the trip. Some of Peter's watercolor painting friends had sent her flowers in appreciation for her care, and she wanted to thank us and express her delight in having met us and been a part of our adventure. What a terrific lady. We'll never forget her kindness and generousity.

To answer a question many posed to us at reunion - no, we will not be biking to the 50th! It will be great to be able to just show up.

For those of you I missed greeting, I hope you had as good a time as we did before, during and after the 25th. It was a very memorable weekend!

A special thank-you also to Roger Hartman for his patient and timely posting of my email-blogs from the road.

Best wishes to all the Class of 1980, and thanks-
June & Peter
